Chapter 1: The fight

Sojie loaded up her bow, then shot, she got the Evil Tree of Mordax right in the head, but  missed his weak spot.

“Darn it!” she hissed as she slapped her knee in frustration.

Meanwhile, her  twin brother, Nex, was galloping along rapidly on his trustful zebracorn, Cilia.  Nex shot at a giant that was chasing him.

“Better focus on where I have to go,” Nex mumbled as he threw his longbow into his knapsack. Nex was on an important mission, it may not sound as important as you think, but it was important to Sojie and Nex’s elderly friend, Miss Louisiana Mouse. She had a dreadful fever, and was very weak right now. “I'm coming Miss Mouse!” Nex whispered with determination. Nex finally arrived at Miss Mouse’s house, and hopped off Cilia. He rushed through the door with excitement.

“Oh dear!” Shouted Miss Mouse in surprise. Nex apologized, gave her the medicine, then said he must go. (And of course Miss mouse insisted Nex had to take home a bag of  her famous homemade chocolate chip cookies for him and his darling sister.)  

    “Stand back, Etom!” Sojie shouted to the Evil Tree of Mordax, as she swung her machete at him. She hit his legal root but did barely any harm. She had  already sliced off ten branches. You think that is a lot? No way! Etom had at least 30,000 more!Just then, Nex arrived. “Nex!” Sojie cried, “Please help me!” she finished between grunts. Etom already had Sojie nearly to the ground, and she was struggling to stay strong.

“No one will help you two now!!!” Etom's voice slithered into Nex’s head. Sojie looked into Etom's terrible eyes once more, and with a jerk upward, she was standing back on the hard pavement.

    “Nex!” she cried as she was jerked of her feet. “Where are you? He has me!”

    “Shhh,” whispered a voice. “He’ll find us!” It was Nex. He swung Sojie onto Cilia.

    “Ohhh,” she gasped. Then she lost her strength and fainted. When she woke Nex’s worried face stared down at her along with someone she didn’t recognize.

Chapter 2: Maddie

“Are you alright?” asked Nex.

“What? Where am I?” Sojie stared up at Nex. “I think so,” she said.

“Good.” said Nex. “You’re in the Deeper Hospital. I’ve been worried. You’ve been out for nearly three days.”

Sojie stared. “That long?” she asked. Sojie noticed a light skinned figure starting at her from the doorway.She frowned, the figure frowned back. Sojie soon noticed the figure was a short, lean, girl, about the same age as her , and lot like her, except with light brown,medium length hair. She was also wearing the same clothing as Sojie, black vest over a white shirt, black leggings, and sunglasses.

“Who’s that?” Sojie asked Nex,

“That, is Maddie” Her brother replied. “Secret agent, like us, except.... her brother, well..... we believe he is dead.” Nex said, tapping his fingers on the table.

“Oh!” exclaimed Sojie. She looked at the sad faced girl in the doorway. “I don’t know what I would do without my brother. She looked again at Maddie. “Hi,” she said, sitting up. “I’m Sojie, sorry about your brother, I don’t know how I would live without Nex.” She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek . “He  saved my life today.”

    “Three days ago.” corrected Nex. “You’ve been out for a while.”

    “Oh yeah.” said Sojie. “Three days ago. When did your brother go missing?”

“Missing?” said Maddie. “He’s dead ...” She muttered to herself.

“If you're anything like us, you have the death force field you earned when you become secret agents. He’s probably just missing.”

Maddie cheered up. “Oh!” she said “I forgot about that!”

“We have two important missions right now...” Sojie said.

“I know the first one,” Nex said slowly,

“But what is the second one?” Maddie finished.

Sojie smiled, “Finding your brother.... what’s his name?” she asked.

“Zen.”said Maddie.

Chapter 3: Lost

    Nex, Sojie, and Maddie loaded up their spy kits with their contractible bows and  arrows, willow bark compressors, herb clippers, and packs of food. “Mmmmm.” said Nex. “I can’t wait.”

Out of the corner of her eye, Sojie saw Nex sneak a couple of candy bars into his kit. “Nex!” she scolded. “Those won’t help keep you fit, will they?.”

Nex looked guilty. “I need some extra power for the extra mission.”   

“Trey......!” began Sojie,

“Hey! Don’t you dare call me by my real name!”

Sojie snickered and Nex pushed Sojie playfully.

Sojie saw Maddie sulking in the back, “You miss your brother, don’t you?” she said as she put her arm around Maddie to comfort her. “Hey, cheer up! He has to turn up sooner or later.” Maddie grunted. Maddie still didn’t believe he was alive.

“Alright, we’re all ready for the mission!” called Nex as he finished strapping the kits to Cilia and Sojie’s zebracorn, Doxia.

“Oh no!” exclaimed Sojie suddenly. “What will Maddie ride?”

“We have extra zebras,” Nex said. “I rented one from the zebra merchant, her name is Beauty.”

Maddie swung up on the big zebra with a blue horn, and unusual color.

“How come her horn is blue, instead of pink and purple?” Maddie asked with a look of confusion.

Sojie shrugged, “Probably a birth disorder, but she is really fast, you’ll love her!”

“Stop dawdling guys!” Nex exclaimed, “Were on a mission, not a play ground!”

Sojie rolled her eyes. “He’s usually the one who’s goofing off. He is just showing off.” Maddie laughed, and all three took off in a steady gallop. Sojie leaned forward and hung on, she was almost in front of Maddie, Nex suddenly stopped and stared, he slipped off and ran towards a cave.

Chapter 4:Found

 

Sojie and Maddie stopped and turned around, once they reached him, they noticed Nex was with another boy, he looked the same age as them. Maddie’s eye filled with tears as she ran towards  the boy and they shared a big hug.

“Zen! Zen! Oh my goodness you're alive! I have looked for years for you!!!!” Maddie said breathlessly. Zen was crying too, he answered her softly.

“Hi! Please be very carefull, my leg is broken, heh.” He said with a cringe.

Maddie backed up and frowned. “First aid kit!” she called to Sojie.

“Got it!” she answered as she tossed it to Maddie. Maddie started making a splint for him. Zen stared at Sojie. Sojie glanced up and did a double take.

“Do I know you?” she asked.

“Archery!” he replied, he blushed but he tried to hide it with a smile. “I had the biggest crush on you, wouldn’t believe how big it was!” Zen smirked.

Sojie held back a laugh by turning her head away while Maddie and Nex we're releasing all their giggles.

“And...and Sojie had a crush on you!!!” Nex exploded with laughter. Sojie turned bright red and gave Nex a good slap on the cheek. He immediately stopped and shot her a glare, he huffed, and mounted his horse. Sojie got on Doxia , Maddie and Zen shared Beauty. They rode off in silence.
